This weekend I am sick. When I woke up Friday, I thought I was lucky to be able to call in sick at work. However, because I knew that I would really be putting everyone out by not showing up to teach my one class that day, I told my vice principal on the phone that I would show up for an hour.
When I came into work I felt pretty healthy, but after talking and moving around for an hour I felt really bad! And I have been really gross since then.

Two weeks ago I left my bicycle somewhere illegally, and it was trucked away. Goddammit. Now I have to go track it down and claim it and pay a fine. I never registered the bike as mine, since I inherited it third-hand from an ex-JET now in Canada. If the bike police are generous, they will give me back my bike when I show them my keys and maybe a photo of me on the bike. If they are feeling bureaucratic, I’m screwed. I want to get this done ASAP so even though I can’t see straight today I am going to go and try.

A few weeks ago I found a bunch of old English Department files with the names of old ALTs at my school. I have been trying to track them down and say hello just to satisfy my curiosity about my school’s history with foreign workers. One of them is a practicing artist named Dominic Wilcox who was at Naruo in 1998. He sent me a really nice email and told me that he didn’t do much creative work when he was here. That is reassuring, because he is a self-supporting artist now with a website and international shows and everything. Cool right??? I can’t wait to hear more about the previous ALT’s at my very nice school.
