I’m really eager to hear what my students say about their 2-week homestay in Australia. The group included a lot of my favorite students from the 2nd-year GI course. Basically, the kids who go on this trip are generally the most enthusiastic about learning English, right? My kyoto-sensei went to pick them up at the airport, and he told me that they were very relieved to be back in Japan. The sense of frustration, he said, is the first step to growing to love learning English. That makes sense to me.
I talked to two students this morning at track practice. One was still super excited and has a lot to tell me. I could tell the second one was more tired of all the English speaking, but there were good points in our conversation, too. I’ll try to talk to all of them sooner or later.
